NEW DRAINAGE BOARD. [BT TE LEGR APH. OVTH CORRESPONDENT. ] TE AROHA. Tuesday Seven nominations have been received for the seven vacancies on the newlyconstituted Hungahunga Drainage Board, the election having become necessary by the inclusion of additional territory in the board's area, notably the absorption of the Waihokau Drainage Board's district. The new board iB composed of Messrs. R. Burke, jun. (Waihou), William Hallett (Waiton), Samuel Harvey (Te Aioha West), C. Hanson (Ngarua), W. H. Mathers (Hungahunga), E. Hughes (Wardville), and J. Oir (Gordon). The four last-named were members of the former boaid, with Mr. Hughes as chairman. The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Bowling Club was held on Saturday evening, last year's president, Mr. J. A. Clothier, presiding over a fair attendance. Noonan's team won the Goldfield Stars and Clothier Sh'eld tourney. Reference was made to the greatly increased charges by the Tourist Department for games, and the meeting was invited to express an opinion on the sub-, ject, it bein? t'onl ended that the increase was abnormal and not in the interests of bowline or of the department, for many players had refrained from tailing out season t'ckets.
