THE RUGBY GAME. ■ MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union met last evening. Mr. H. Frost presiding. It was resolved to notify the Kaipara Union that Auckland would be unable to play a team representing that union this season. Mr." T. Milliken, representing Auckland University College, reported that the Sydney University team to tour New Zealand would consist of 25 players. The first match of the tour is to be played against Auckland University at the Domain, on August 23, and the first teat matc!i against a combined New Zeaiand University team at Eden Park on August 26. An application from Grammar Old Boys for a transfer of Moyes from College Rifles to Grammar Old Boys was ruled out of order. The Bay of Plenty Union notified acceptance of the alteration of dates for the matches against Auckland at Te Puke, on August 26, and at Auckland, September 23. The Thames Union advised that no players were available for the Auckland team's Southern tour. A letter from the St. John Ambulance in reference to accommodation for injured Le<ague players at Devonport was referred to th North Shore Club for considration. It was resolved to ask senior clubs for nominations for subsidiary matches after August 5. The Junior Advisory Board reported the ordering off the field of four third grade players for alleged rough play. The offenders were reprimanded and cautioned. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. ' UNDER LEAGUE RULES. AUCKLAND DEFEATS CAMBRIDGE. WON BY 73 POINTS TO 29. * The representative League match between Auckland and Cambridge was played at Carlaw Park yesterday. The weather was fine and the ground in good order for fist, ooen football. There was a fair attendance. £:>G being taken at the gate. Auckland was represented by a strong team, and Cambridge, although well represented, was outclassed in all departments of the game. The pace of the Auckland backs and the accurate handling on attack completely beat Cambridge, whose defence was weak. In the first spell Auckland was leading by 39 points to 12. In the second spell Cambridge improved their game, and playing with dash put on 17 points. Auckland, however, was always in the ascendant, and ran out winners with the record iscore of 73 points to 29. Cambridge was the first to ncore. McMillan kicking a penalty goal. G. Davideon then scored a try for Auckland, which Dufty converted. From the subsequent play Auckland again attacked for G. Davidson to score another try. Poison converting. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Football League met last evening, the ohairman. Mr. W. J. Hammill, presiding. A letter was received from the New Zealand League Council stating that the Auckland Referees' Association desired that a conference be held of all affiliated Leagues with the object of securing uniformity in interpreting the laws of the game. It was suggested that the conference be held during the visit of the Australian team to Auckland. It was decided to support the suggestion. An appeal of the Tramways Club against the decision of the committee of the Wednesday Competition in dismissing the protest of the Tramways team against the Jockeys' Club was received. The Tramways Club requested that the match be replayed. The appeal was upheld. . Mr. R. Benson reported that during the progress of a League match on the Domain en Saturday. Rugby Union players from an adjoining ground encroached on the League ground. They commenced fighting anions themselves and the League game had to be suspended for several minutes. It was decided to forward particulars of the occurrence to the Rugby Union. Matters relating to the proposed lighting cf Carlaw Park by electricity were discussed. The ground committee was empowered to obtain estimates of the cost. The League selectors were authorised to eppoint the captain of representative teams. A challenge was received from the Hamilton United Club for a match with the holders of the New Zealand League Challenge Cup.
