AUCKLAND'S ATTRACTIONS.

ADVERTISING CLUB'S EFFORTS

In. i&j. campaign to spread abroad a better knowledge of the attractions and advantages of the city, the Auckland Advertising Club has to date expended £250 contributed by leading business houses. In all, 28,000 pieces of literature have been printed, and through the courtesy of the Government .publicity officer, packages have been «snt to all the Government offices and agents over- * seas, also to numerous branches ofl Messrs. Cook and Son, and other agencies. The Prime Minister has expressed his approval of the work done in the following terms :—" I wish to compliment your club upon its initiative in producing and circulating effectively so much literature concerning your city and its attractive surroundings." Further complimentary references to the activity of the dub in this respect have received from the Government publicity officer, the director of forestry, and other officials. In response to representations of the club regarding the lack of Dominion publicity, Mr. Massey stated that the Government is- taking steps to provide a better supply of New Zealand news abroad, and information of advertising schemes used in other lands was being obtained in readiness for use when finances permit. The general manager of railways has also advised the club that he is contemplating the issue of publicity matter in order to promote tourist trafiio to resorts served by railways. A •.' Aa indicating interest in the North following some advertising, the club received within a few weeks 160 inquiries for information from 46 different localities in the Dominion.
