AMERICAN MINE MURDERS.
OFFICIAL INERTIA ATTACKED.
NO ARREST YET MADE. A. and N.Z. NEW YORK. June 28. Newspapers throughout the country are unanimous in condemning the verdict of the coroner's jury atf Herren, which, found that the officials of the mine owned by the Southern Illinois Coal Company were guilty of the death of two union miners who were killed in the recent massacre, and that the death of some 16 nonunion strike-breakers was due to causes not known. They blame the authorities of Williamson County, where the tragedy occurred, for not taking action, and ask why not a single arrest has been made. They declare that the outrage sullies the country's record, and is the blackest stain on unionism. Feeling is running high.
