It is announced that the ex-Kaiser is . • proceeding against the newspapers Gotha jVolksfreund and Dortmund Anzciger for , I publishing articles giving an allegedly . false account of the incident in the Kaiser's tour of Norway in July, 1837, when Lieutenant von Hahnk© lost his life • in a- cycling accident on tho Stalheim Road. The articles contained a report, widely current at the time, that Von Hahnke received a push from the ex-Kaiser, and answered it by giving the Kaiser a black eye. Von Hahnke was arrested and sentenced to death by court-martial, but was allowed, as an act of grace, to commit suicide by means of a cycling accident. The official report, issued on July 11, 1897. stated that part of the rigging • from the mast of th 6 yacht Hohensollern ' fell and struck the Kaiser on the left eye f while he was-atanding on the deck.
