PRESENTATION.
I' A pleasing ceremony took place at the Newmarket Railway 'Workshops, on the occasion of a presentation to Mr. W. "Elliott, foreman' at the workshops,- who has been transferred to Wanganui. The presentation was made on behalf of the staff by Mr. J. F. McCarthy, and con; sisted of a silver entree dish, a set of carvers, a silver teapot, cnitfery, and a case of pipes. Mr. Elliott is recojpnsed as one of the most popular officers in the service. He wau well known as a Rugby footballer, being a member of the New "Zealand native team which toured Kngland in 1888. A farewell smoke concert . was also tendered to Mr» Elliott.
