FIGURES FOR PAST MONTH.
LOWER IMPORTS OF MEAT.
Australian and N.Z- Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. May 11.
Imports for April showed a decrease in valuo of £9,290,119, and exports of £4,559,956, compared with April of last year. Re-exports increased by £676,112.
The principal decreases in imports wore; Meat, £5,265.887; dutiable food and drink, £4,825,955; non-dutiable food and drink, £2,415,658.
In exports the chief decreases were:— Machinery, £5,503,948; iron and steel, £1,943,449; vehicles, £1,552,070.
The principal increases in imports were: —Raw cotton, £2,621,553; raw wool, £2,686,8*74. In exports, coal, £3,340,658; cotton yarn manufacture*, £1,560,421.
