(Received 11.16 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, May 12. Tho Labour Council has issued a statement which says tho Government has refused to conduct an inquiry into the objectionable conditions now being forced upon the railway workers, and now stands as the enemy of organised workers. The mens leaders are exerting every effort to prevent an outbreak, and after exhaustive effort last night succeeded in keeping tho men at work.
The, leaders are under no delusions that tho authorities are determined to force the issue, and the leaders are working feverishly to consolidate the workers' organisations. If a strike is inevitable, then it must, take place at the time most favourable for the workers.
