FRUIT AND PRODUCE. Prices at the Auckland city markets wain showed a downward tendency yesterday. Tho setting in of the cold weather has had its effect in a diminishing demand for fruit, There was a large supply of rip© pears .on' tho market.' while bananas fell in >ji°° owing to a fair quantity becoming ripe while still in hand. A shipment of hot-house grapes arrived from Sydney during the week in rip* condition and sold at reduced prices, uomatoes and passion fruit were shortening in supplies. The market for eggs was heavily stocked with duck eggs, tho prices for which showed a further fall.

! FRUIT. Choice Delicious apples realised from l?.s 6d to 16s. a distinct rise over last week's price*. Jonathans sold from 7e-to 8e 6d, some boxes rising to 9s. Northern Spys brought 7s to lGe, while other varieties sold from 5s to 7s 6d. In cooking apples. Ballarats rea--1 liaed from 8s to 9s; Munros, 7s to 9s; and ! seconds, 5s to 6s. Of the various varieties of pears. Winter Coles, Winter Nelia. and Elizabeth Coles eold from 13s to 15s, according to duality. Other varieties realised much lower prices, while a largo supply of ripe fruit went from 5a to 7s. and at time* 8s 6d. Tomatoes, supplies of which ar# falling oft, realised up to 10e a case, higher than was reached last week. Passion fruit, which are ! also coming in in smaller quantities, realised from 6s to 10s. Persimmons sold from 4s to ss, some lines fetching 6s. Tree tomatoes also brought from 4s to ss. Local fresh lemons sold from 6a to 12s; cured. 15s to 225, according to count. Rarotongan oranges advanced in price, eelhng. from lis to 12s bd a case. Bananas were in n.po condition, and prices fell somewhat, ranging from lis to 18s. Rip© hot-house grapes from Sydney realised from 4s io 20s a box, while local hothouee grapes eold from Is 7d to 3a id for first grades and Is to Is 6d for seconds. i Guavas fetched 3s to 4s 6d.

Samuel Vaile and Sons, Ltd., report having sold the following properties at their auction sale yesterday:—House of five rooms at No. 8, Chamberlain Street, Grey Lynn, at request, of the mortgagee, for £910; house of six rooms. No. 8, Lisnoo Avenue, Mount Eden, for £1025. The sale of a section, in Hackett Street was postponed for a fortnight and two sales under conduct of the registrar were withdrawn.
