KING GEORGE "MOBBED."

King George had a real thrill when he arrived at tho Richmond ground to witness tho hospital Rugby final between Guy's and London. Ha stepped from his car, and walked on to the ground, where, in front of 10,000 people, he was jovially "mobbed" by hundreds of medical students in carnival costume. His in'tcniion was to speak to the teams, but tho hospital "tans" made a huge crowd round him, yelling themselves hoarse, and cheering all the time. There was scarcely a policeman in the centre to keep order, but happily a few seniors, fighting their way to the front, made a ring round the King, and, with difficulty, kept the enthusiasts back. Then in the middle of the yelling '-.hrong a man put up his hand, and, by gesticulation, intimated that tho King wished 'to inspect the teams. Silence followed, and the teams lined The King walked down the lines, Bhook each man by the hand, and then, Burrounded by the queerly-dressed throng, who sang the National Anthem, he walked to his place in tho grandstand. For nome hours before a huge " rag" ™s going on all oVer London and down the road to Richmond. The rival " fans" had hired a fleet of motor lorries, decorated them, and, blowing a medley of ins vuments paraded the streets to collect for the hospitals. This strange procession consisted of cloims, costers, curat™, and men dressed as women who carried on their shoulders a huge coffin with a " body " lollinir its bead over tho side. An inscription was pinned on Ho it, intimating that the booy was one of the medicos' victims It had ?i strenuolis time, and its fato was • mystery. *"* .Guys won easily by 42 points, to, 6,
