WAIKATO WINTER SHOW.
RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Friday. The Waikato t Winter Show, which is to be opened by the Prime Minister at Hamilton on May 30, promises to eclipse its predecessors in every respect. Entries, which closed to-day, are a record, and some idea of tho magnitude of the exhibition can be gained when it is stated that in tho dairy classes alone there are over 600 entries. So great has been tho demand for space by exhibitors that although over 10,000 square feet of additional space has been provided, every available inch has been taken up. The additional spaco referred to has been provided by the erection of a lofty and imposing machinery hall, which is nearly completed. A great improvement has been effected by lowering the floor of the poultry hall and enlarging tho hall itself, and the whole of the show buildings are now on one level. The whole building will be brilliantly lit by electricity, and exhibits will look just as attractive by night as by day. An exhibit this year that is certain to attract considerable attention is that of the State Forestry Department, which is showing trees suitable for planting in tho Waikato, and also providing full information regarding afforestation. A series of lectures on various subjects will bo given, and, judging by present indications, tho show should be a great success.
