THE OPERATIC SOCIETY.
THE NEXT PRODUCTION. The annual meeting of tho Auckland Amateur Operatic Society was held last evening, Mr. W. Wallace Bruce presided over an attendance of about .60 members. The annual report and balance-sheet revealed a very satisfactory state of affairs. " The Country Girl" had been staged, and the profit for the year was £454. Rooms had been rented where the society's rehearsals and social gatherings could be held. It was decided that " Our Miss Gibbs " should be presented during the coming season. Tna following officers were elected :— President, Mr. Fred Earl; vice-presidents, same as last year, with the addition of Mr. A. M. Ferguson; committee, Messrs. W, J. Crowther, C. F. White, W. W. Bmro, L. Lovien, C. B. Plummer, F. Coldicutt, F. E. du Ouorrier, V. Hunt, J. I', Stevenson, A. M, Ferguson, L. P. Leary, and Mrs. J. T. Dixon; lion. secrotary, Mr. H, T. Ooldie; lion, treasurer, Mr. J. H. Jackson. In recognition of their valuable services rondered in the past, Mr. Goldio Mid Mr, Jackson wore nro» scnted with badgee in gold and. enamel
