AMERICAN TARIFF BILL.
DENOUNCED IN SENATE. I ADDING TO PUBLIC BURDENS 1 A and N.Z, WASHINGTON. April 27Mr. Simons, a member of the Senate, i speaking in opposition to the Tariff Bill. j said that if.it were passed indignation ' in the country would assume greater proportions than in the case of the Payne Aldrich Law. He added that despite; the increases on agricultural products farnMs would pay five dollars in in-orea.-ed prices for every dollar they gain by the tariff. He denounced it as the worst Bill that eyer crossed the threshold ; of tha Senate, and concluded that while ' the Treasury might gain 350,000,000 dollars by tho duties the same duties , would tax the people to the extent of , billions. —^^^
