April 27. i A serious mutiny occurred in the Pre- | sew 4 Gaol at Calcutta, arising out of 'discontent engendered by the belief that I political prisoners received better treatj tntnt than other prisoners. The trouble j came k> a head when a warder struck I a prisoner. Eighteen hundred convictß refused to parade, armed themselves I with sticks and sledge hammers, ,uid atI tempted to rush and set tiro to the jute i sheds and oil tanks. The warders fired, j but the outbreak was not queiled till tro. Ps and police arrived. The gaol is now under military control. The casualties .ire reported to be heavy, and at least threw have been killed. Some buildings wc-e damaged by fire..
