HOSPITAL BOARD.

CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON TREATING VENEREAL DISEASE. The Auckland Hcspital Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, presiding. There were also present Messrs. G. Baildon, AL J. Savage, G. Knight, M J. Coyle, A. K. Howitt, J. Rowe, E N. Bagnall, anc! J. D. Chalners. Letters were received from the Otago and the North Canterbury Hospital Boards agreeing to the Auckland Board' 3 suggestion that a Dominion conference of Hospital Boaris be held m Wellington in July. The chairman remaned that the conference would be thoroughly representative of the hospitals cf the Dominion and was being welcomed by ail the boards. The Minister for Health was also pleased with the idea. A communication from the North Can*«rbury Board urging that the Government be requested to appoint a commission to inquire into the prevalence of venereal disease was briefly discussed. The chairman said he doubted if a commission such as was suggested would do much good. Ginics for the treatment of the disease had beer, established in the main hospitals of the Dominion.
