THE PARNELL SCHOOL.

ANOTHER SUGGESTED SITE. AREA NEXT ST. STEPHEN'S. Having failed to secure the site of St. Stephen's Native School in Parnell for a new public school, the Education Board has decided to make an attempt to procure the adjoining property for the purpose. Messrs. G. W. Murray and A. Bums, who were appointed to look for another suitable site, reported to the board yesterday that the four-acre property adjoining the native school would answer the purpose admirably. Tie secretary, Mr. E. 0. Purdie, informing the board that this site was also tiie property of the Diocesan Trust Board, a member at once suggested tha* as the ground was not being used for the purpose for which the trust was formed, namely, the education of the children of tbo native and white races, the Trust Board should be approached with a view to opening negotiations for the purchase of the land. The chairman, Mr. E. C- Banks, suggested that instead of being invited to sell it, the trust should be asked to hand the property over. It was being used onlv for revenue purposes, and could be used to better advantage as a school site for the white children of the district. Mr. H. S. W. King: "I will move that as the trust has been unable to see its way to grant us the St. Stephen's School site, the board would be glati to receive from it the adjoining four acres now used for revenue purposes," This motion was carried unanimously, Mr. Kins; adding, "They ought to give it to us free!"
