FAREWELL TO MINISTER.
GATHERING AT OTAHUHU. A farewell -social was tendered to the Rev. H. L Richards, Methodist minister of the Otahuhu circuit, and Mre. Richards, in the Otahuhu Methodist schoolroom, on Tuesday. The Mayor, Mr. ft. Todd, paid a tribute to the work of Mr. Richards, who, ho said, had not confined his efforts to his own church, but had always acted for the good of the whole community. Mrs. Pain, representing the Ladies' Guild, presented Mrs. Richards with a handbag. The captain of the Otahuhu Tennis Club's senior team, Mr. 0. Montgomery, gave Mr. Richards an enlarged photograph of the team, of which Mr. Richards was a member. "In the team," said Mr. Montgomery, " are four returned soldiers, and putting it in the vernacular of the army, Mr. Richards will do us both 'as a man and a parson.' " On behalf of the Otahuhu congregation, Mr. Raushaw presented Mr. Richards with a solid leather travelling bag and a travelling nig. In returning thanks, Mr. Richards said he had always spoken what he believed to be true. If he had hint any in his congregations it was not because the principles he had set out were wrong. On previous the Papatoetoo congregation had presented Mr. and Mrs. Richards with a silver teapot and sugar basin, and the young people a set of nine handsomely-bound classics. Mr. Richards' morning class presented him with a set of military brashes.
