-*. — CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. GUY LEADING FOR BELT. [by teleokaph.—press association.] GBEYTOWN, Saturday. With three days gone the executive of the rifle championship meeting can congratulate themselves on having broken the back of the fixture. While the weather throughout hag been uncertain, rain has not caused any interruption. To-day two matches were fired and an aggregate decided. The Canterbury match, fifteen shots' at 600 yds., was ffecided before lunch. NeUson and Roots each only dropped cne point, while Sondes, a tyro from Upper Hutt, got a creditable 72, which counted back to advantage over similar totals mnde by Atkinson and H. C. Loveday. On the completion of the match the Midfield Aggregate winner was found in A. H. Guy, who had. made 306 at all ranges fired to date, the possible for which was 325. He took the cash prize and the Carbine Cup. The Buchanan Challenge Shield and & gold medal also fell to Guy, whose 163 out of a possible 175 at three 600yd6. shoots was the best on the range. It waft also possible to see who was leading in the Chawpion Teams match, for teams of five men, including scores in all matches of the Belt series. Four have been fired to date, and the leading teams are: Christchurch No. 1, 1460; Hawera, 1444; Petone, 1431; Blenheim, 1419; Karori, 1419; Akarana, 1416; Opaki No. 1, 1416; Linton, 1414; Wellington Suburbs, 1399. The afternoon was depot cd to the Wairarapa match, ten shoU at 800 yds., this being the first long range shoot of the series. The weather until just at the ;lose was very fine, with passing clouds jutting shadows across in a most discounting fashion. Nevertheless, the scores -vere good, no leas than five getting 49, Deluding C. V. Loveday, the youngest, >f the Ohura family, who is making his irst appearance in big company. W.
