S. 3 Wilson, S.M., at the Police Court on Saturday morning on a charge of being without sufficient visible means of support. He seemed to be secretly amused at hi* position and maintained this attitude while the police explained that he had been found sleeping in a shed on tta hwQ , Street Wharf. Accused had been before the Court on a similar charge on February Mj when he was convicted and discharged and .told to get away from the city. n» ■ offered no explanation when questioned by the magistrate and showed no concern when he was sentenced to one months imprisonment. _. ■ George Arthur Thompson, aged Oft charged with a similar offenco, pleaded not guilty, and said he had atout£Bor£Bin the custody of the probation officer, In? police said that he had been found sleeping in the children's sheltor shed at^ Victoria Park, and when questioned stft«d that he had no home. Ife then had only one penny in his pockets. It was c ° l ?* plained that a number of men had been sleeping in buildings along the waterfront : and that property was being destroyed and stolen. The accusod asked for a chance,.saying that he had only come out of gaol after serving a sentence of two years, and found it hard to get employment. #* was discharged and told to get proper lodgings. ~/. Charles Avery' Ashwin, aged 55 (*"• Moody), on a charge of stealing a quantity of drapery valued at £4 Bs, the property of the Farmers' Union Trading ComEany, was remanded until Friday Ben, ail being fixed at £100. Two statutory first offenders w&0 pleaded guilty to charges of drunkenness were convicted and discharged.
