DIVORCED WIFE JILTED.
£5000 DAMAGES AWARDED. A. and N.Z LONDON. Feb. 24. The jury awarded £5000 damages in tho case in which Sarah Bendix sued Carl Bendix, stockbroker, of London, for breach of promise to remarry iier. Bendix divorced his wife in 1920 on the ground of misconduct with his chauffeur. Counsel stated that Bendix afterwards again courted her and proposed marriage. He lived with her and told her she would get a surprise on her birthday. Ho telephoned her on that day, remarking, " This is my surprise—will you marry me!" She consented, and the wedding was arranged, but was postponed, and six days later Bendix married an actress. Mrs. Bendix gave evidence that after tno divorce her husband settled £1100 a year on her.
