The following cablegram has been dispatched by tie New Zealand Associf-tion of British Manufacturers and Agents to the president of the British Board of Trade :—" With reference to the proposed abolition of the Department of Overseas Trade the association considm the continuance of the department an absolute necessity for the expansion of Britiah trade, and essential to the support of overseas organisations, which are endeavourmg to maintain British prestige and further promote trade between Britain and Ne* Zealand, particularly in view of American competition."
