SUMMER, SCHOOL HOURS.

POSITION AT MOUNT ALBERT. Full-time hours are being observed at the Mount Albert public school, in connection with which a difference has arisen between the committee and the teaching staff. The chair of the committee, Mr. E. S. Inwood. in support of the committee's action in ordering full time, states that the children are not confined to the school for any period longer than two hours playtime and the lunch hour intervening in eacli case. The matter will be further considered at the meeting of the School Committee to be held next Thursday evening. , , One of the teachers of a neighbouring school, who has had a wide experience, considers that one important phase of the question not touched upon is that the children, after the long Christmas vacation do better work under the half-day system than would otherwise obtain under the full-time hours. It is, he says, " a gradual breaking-in" that has had very good results at all the schools with which he has been connected.
