COLLAPSE OP A BRIDGE.
SEVERAL SHEEP KILLED. [BT TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CARTEBTON. Monday. Recently settlers in the Pahioa district rated themselves, raised a loan of £8000, and erected four Dawson suspension bridges. These structures of steel and concrete were completed and opened about October last. Yesterday a small mob of about 150 sheep were being driven over the bridge at Ngaipu, when the structure collapsed and fell into the river below, about 30 feet. Seven sheep were killed. It is reported that the cables pulled out of the iron clamps at the top of the piers. The members of the Featherston County Council arc meeting at tss site to-day.
