SUMMER MEETING .CONCLUDED.

MONEYMAKER WINS DOMINION HANDICAP. The Otahuhu Trotting Club's Summer Meeting waa concluded yesterday, when the popularity of Alexandra Park gatherings was once again strongly demonstrated, the attendance being estimated at 10,000. Large fields were again the order of the day. and the contests throughout were invested with much interest. An unfortunate contretemps was, however, connected with the concluding event of the programme, the Farewell Handicap, four of the contestants falling about a couple of furlongs after the atatt. Piletta, who was driven by E. Young, tripped and fell at that point, and Kewpie (G. A. McKendriok), Great Britain (R. McMillan), and Van Coronado (J. Conway), each in turn colliding, were thrown out of tho contest, Fortunately oil the riders as well as the horses involved escaped without injury. The management of the meeting throughout was most satisfactory and left nothing to be desired. The totalisator investments during ,tne day amounted to £41,577 10s, against £44,315 on the corresponding day last year. This gave a grand total of *W fcr the meeting, compared mtj fW 10s last year—a decrease of £4460 10s, The leading event of the programme yesterday waa {he Dominion Handicap, wmon brought out a field of nine. Locanda .union was made favourite, but ho proved a pronounced disappointment, and was never able to get near the leaders, and came homo in last position. Going up tho back, Amberite and Mutu were racing together five lengths in front, and the latter was in front for a short distance, but, breaking, Amberite was left in front. Hova ran into second place, but just as he threatened danger he broke at the three-furlongs post. Amberite showed the way into the straight, and looked like winning easily. The whole of tho leaders, however, broke badly inside the distance, which added excitement to the situation. In the race up the back Conscript went into second 'place, but when they crossed the top Wairemana was closest to the leader, In the race to the post Brendo kept the opposition at bay, and he got home a length and a-quarter in front of Rotholiffe, who came with a fine run and beat Conscript by a head for eecond, honours. As they raced up the back stretch, Salamander went up to Te Awa., and they raced level for half a furlong, when Salamander drew away, and tho favourite showed tho way into the straight two lengths in front of Profiteer, and Te Awa close handy. Salamander, ridden right out, got home a longth in front of Te Awa. who came again and defeated Profiteer by half a length for second place. •Mr. W. Moses, a prominent New South Wales _ breeder, who with his brother Frederick, owns tho Arrowfield stud, arrived in Auckland yesterday, by the Niagara, on a short visit to Auoldand. The Messrs. Moses bred the celebrated racehorse Poitrel, and it was in their colours the horse namod won the Melbourne Cup of 1920.
