SUMMER-TIME LESSONS.

■ | POSITION AT MOUNT ALBERT. (PBOTEST BY TEACHERS.

COMMITTEE'S ATTITUDE.

Representations have been made by members of the teaching staff at the Jlouut Albert fchool that the statement from the chairman of the committee, T\[r. E. S. Inwood, published yeserday, docs not. fairly present the attitude of the staff toward the resumption of full-time Jast week. Mr. Inwood stated that they "complained of the reverting to fulltjme" but representatives of the staff explained yesterday that their complaint was not an expression, of dissatisfaction on the part of the teachers, but of their anxiety for tho welfare of tho children. It wa- also explained that Dr. Pettit visited the school last Tuesday afternoon. All invitation was given to tho chairman {o accompany die doctor, but he declined fn do so. At the request of the staif, the report was addressed to the chairman of the committee, and it vras handed to him at 4.30 p.m. That evening, the committee met and the report was read to the meeting before it confirmed its decision to continue the full-time sessions. On tho following day, a mei iber of the jtaff asked 'he chairman for 'ho doctor's report, but Mr. Inwood sent him the following note: —" Upon second thought in handing to you the doctor's report, 1 think it would.be inadvisable, to give it any further publicity. As it, is now the committee's document and they have decided against it, no further good can come of it by any more of the teachers reading and discussing it. It will remain private, until at least our next ordinary meeting." It was then that tho "somewhat threatening letter " was written to the ehainnan of the commit teo, but the author explains that the tin eat had no more serious implication than that the teachers would have to obtain another copy from the doctor, and, as tho committee appeared determined, to suppress the original document, to nu.ke its contents foown to tho parents oi the children.
