GRADING REGULATIONS.
ALLOCATION OF POINTS. Regulations relating to the export of, honey appear in the Gazette. For the purposes of the grading of honey th e maximum number of points that may be allotted in respect of the several qualities is as follows:—Flavour, 60 points; colour, 10; condition, la I grain or texture, 15; freedom from scum and froth, 10; total, 100. The following will be the standards upon which the grades of honey will be determined:-Special grade: 94 to 1W points, both inclusive; Aor prime gn»e, , 88 to 93£ points, both inclusive; B « good grade, 80 to 87i points, both inclusive. ~ No charge will be made for grading, except in the case of honey withdrawn from the grading store after having been graded and approved for export, in wtucn case a charge of one-tenth of a penny pw lb. will be made. , The improvements in the method oi grading were considered at a conference of the Government graders, held in Aueßj land on Saturday. One of the defects o! the certificate system has beon its failuri to adequately describe the exact colouj of the produce, as two samples of equal grade might vary in colour. It is proposed that each of the five classes of colour be represented by a small oblong of glass corresponding with the honeyThe exact colour of the honey may thus be sent to overseas buyers, together with the grade certificate, thus giving them th 0 fullest description without the necefr sity of forwarding samples.
