ANGLICAN CHURCH ATTITUDE.
"NO ONE MAN DARE SPEAK."
" The Bible and Evolution" was the subject of an address given by the Rev. F. W. Young at All Saints' Church, Ponsonby, last evening. There were, he said, two methods of accounting for the world ind all that wa* in it. The first was the method, of special creative acts on the part of God, and tho second the process of slow change called evolution. No ono mnn could speak the mind of tho Church of England on such a matter. The Archbishop of Canterbury would not presume to do so. On tho matter of church doctrine anyone sufficiently learned might 'peak, but on the question of scientific interpretation no one dared. The preacher briefly outlined the two methods of explaining creation. Special creative acts would be consonant with history measured by thousands of years. Evolution required/ unnumbered millions of years, and owned that it was quite unable to account for the beginning. Mr. Young quoted authorities showing the woaknc'ds of the evolutionary theory as a philosophy of life.
