RAILWAY ENTERPRISE.
HOLIDAYS FOR FARMERS.
SPECIAL EXCURSION TRAINS. A series of special excursion trains for ' farmers has been run this week by the , , New South Wales Railway Department. ■ I "The idea of arranging these trains at I this time of the year is in itself an innovation," the department has exphined. "It has been urged upon the Railway Commissioners that people engaged in th 6 ) rural industries are unable to take a ho'.i|day at the ordinary holiday season owing to the claims of their farm and station work. And in response to this suggestion a series of trains in the middle of February has been arranged. "But there is another important respect in which these trains differ from the ordinary holiday traffic excursion trains. In [ordinary circumstances the full passage I must be booked to Sydney. But by those ' I country trains passengers will be able to jbook to intermediate stations at the I special cheap excursion rates, provided the jfare exceeds 8s 9d first-class and 5s lOd second-class.
"It is probable that many of the excursionists will prefer to soend a holiday in some part of the country between their home station and the city, where the climate may be less frying and the facilities; for a rest greater. That is the view, ot any rate, which was put before the Railway Commissioners, in response to which this special series of excursion trains has been arranged."
