EMPTY COFFIN BURIED.
EXTRAORDINARY MISTAKE.
BODY LEFT AT UNDERTAKER'S. LONDON, Feb. 9. An extraordinary mistake occurred in connection with the burial at the Shooter's Hill Cemetery of Constable Parker. The flower-bedecked coffin and cortege of relatives and 100 police proceeded to the cemetery. The service was performed, the coffin was buried, and the grave was filled in. The same night the undertaker was horrified to discover Parker's body, which, by an amazing mischance, had not been placed in the coffin, and was still lying in the shop. An empty coffin had been buried, The grave was reopened and the burial of the body was performed with the same honours.
