METEOROLOGICAL.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST.
GOVERNMENT REPORT.
Tho Government meteorologist reported last night as follows:—Present indications are for strong easterly winds in tho far north and variable breezes elsewhere, with south-easterlies to north easterlies ruling and weather fair generally but cloudy and unsettled at timos in the northern and southern districts. Tlio barometer has a falling tendency.
MR. C. L. WRAGGE'S FORECAST. The following weather forecast was supplied to us by Mr. Cemont L. Wi'agge at 8 o'clock lost evening:—One of the most remarkable high-pressure systems, with respect to sudden developments, on record, is now influencing the Dominion. It came in from the higher latitudes of the Tasraan Sea, and the barometer in Canterbury rose half an inch in a few hours. Thus the recent Antarctic depression, Wryanoth, which should have brought rain, was pushed head-long over tho anti-meridian. Tho standard barometer at Birkenhead at this Umo reads 30.411 in. at sea level, and is still rising. This means a continuance of fine dry weather, with winds between south-east and north-east. But there is sure to be a reaction ere long, and when it comes it will be of great interest to watch developments. Sea moderate.
