METEOROLOGICAL.

TO-DAY'S FORECAST.

GOVERNMENT REPORT.

The Government meteorologist reported last night as follows:—lndications aro for moderate to strong south-east winds northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and easterlies elsewhere, backing to northerlies shortly ovory whore. Fair weather may be expected generally, but unsettled and showery conditions in northern and east coast districts of the North Island. The barometer will have a falling tendency soon.

MR. C. L. WRAGGE'S FORECAST.

The follow Lug weather forecast was supplied to us by Mr, Clement L. Wragge at 8.30 o'clock last evening:—A very remarkable and sudden change has taken place in the distribution of atmosphere, especially over Canterbury and Otago since yesterday. The Antarctic depression rapidly passed into west longitude, and as quickly has been succeeded by a new and energetic high-pressure system from the higher latitudes of the Tasman Sea. Thus prospects are now altered, and the expected rain is deferred save for coastal showers, chiefly in the North. Ab matters now stand, tho weather should remain fair to cloudy in inland districts with considerable heat, and winds from between e?.st-soutli-east and north-north-easT. Tropica! low-pressure waves are still north from Hokianga. and when the new high.-pressure ridge breaks up, the rainy type of weather will almost certain y follow, the sea rising with decrease of latitude.
