OBITUARY.
MR. TOM NEILL
News has been received of the death oi Mr. Tom Neill, formerly of Auckland, at' Durban on' Sunday, January 8, at the age of 53. Mr. Neill was born in Scotland, but his parents migrated to New Zealand when he was a child, and the family settled in Auckland. He went to South Af.ica on serVice at the commencement of the Boer war. He was a recognised authority on many kinds of sport, particularly Rugby football, with which he was rromineutlv connected in Auckland.' For some time he of scales and assistant secretary to the Durban Turf Club. The funeral took place at Stellawood Cemetery on January 9, and among the mourners was Mr. W. L. Winstone, manager of the South British_ Insnranci Company, representing the family. .
MR. NELSON CARTWRIGHT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPOND!*!.) PAPABOA, Thursday. Mr. Nelson Cartwright, sen., passed away on Wednesday morning, aged 84 years. The deceased had lived for many years at Matakohe and Papa roa. He was widely known. His wife predeceased him some years ago. He leaves four sons, Messrs. John, Nelson, Henry and Ebenezer Cartwright, and four daughters, Mesdaraes Lindquist, Queen, Belcher and Simpson.
