LONDON, Fob. 2. Earl Beatty, interviewed by a represenUtive of the Sydney Sun said that he was indeed proud to read the cabled account of the splendid work of the cruiser Melbourne in effecting tile rescue of the crew of the Helen B. Sterling in such difficult circumstances. " I regard with admiration," ho said, " the manner in which the young Australian Navy upheld in peace, as it had already done in the war, the glorious traditions of the British Navy.
