RED CROSS OPENS TUND/ INSPECTION OF DISTRIBUTION. The Red Cross Society of Ne'v Zealand \ has intimated its willingness to rtceiv* < and forward contributions for the allevi. ation of the famine and distress in Tho New Zealand executive has received the following cablegram from the chair, man of the British Rod Cross Society Sir Arthur Stanley:—" Sir Benjamin Robertson, the Indian famine expert, is proceed, ing to Russia forthwith, as tho British Empire's commissioner, to inspect the distribution of charitable relief from the British Empire,, and to advis 6 on future plans. He has been appointed by the British Red Cross Society, and the Rus. sian Famine Relief Fund, the latter under the chairmanship of lard Emniott. Thj visit is being made with the full apptOYsl of His Majesty's Government, which has contributed stores to tho valui) of £260,000. We recommend that all oviitteia help in money or kind should be ccri&ntrated through the High CommignonVv office, otherwise it should be sent throiigiv the British Red Cross Society, or Fish. mongers' Hall, London." The cablegram has been referred to M Governor-General, Lord Jellicoe, and the Prime Minister, Mr. W. F. Massey. .
