IDLE STATE MINERS.
NO AGREEMENT REACHED.
TROUBLE' ABOUT TRUCKING.
[Vt THUOttAPH—rBESS ASSOCIATION.] GREYMOtJTH. Wednesday.
The dispute between the Slate miners and the management over the terms of the new agreement remains unsettled. - The State Miners' Unions met at Runanga and Rew&mui to-night, and'by a very large majority decided' that the general manager's terms could not be accepted. The voting' at Runanga was 95 to 25, andjt was on similar lines at Rewanui. One bone of contention is the provision for miners to do trucking, which the men contend, increases the risk of accidents and is a reversion to the conditions of 10 years ago. It is reported that the Blackball miners will resume to-morrow under the new award. FEDERATION IN CONFERENCE. POSITION OF THE ALLIANCE; [BI TSIBGEATH.—PEESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The meeting of the executive of the Miners' Federation, which is discussing the situation arising from the strike of miners, was continued to-day. Up to the present no statement has been made as to the decisions reached. Mr. Mack, president of the Alliance of Labour, recently denied that the men acted under instructions from the alliance. From inquiries made since Mr. Maick made this statement it would appear that the miners acted purely on instructions from their own organisation. It is understood that at a recent conference between '/he Alliance of Labour and representatives of the Miners' Federation the support of the alliance was sought in the event of a strike, but that some' members of the alliance'were opposed to anything in the nature of industrial upheaval at the present time owing to the adverse economic conditions.
