PLAGUE IN SYDNEY.

The first plague patient in Sydney, jiamed Mahor, is dead. Tho Sussex Street premises where he was employed have been thoroughly overhauled. A few rats were caught, but they were not infected with the plague. A second well-developed case of plague las been sent to hospital from Sussex Street. The new patient was employed in premises a considerable distance from those where the first victim worked. The authorities regard this as a proof that infected rate are more widely spread than was thought. Steps axe being taken for_the strict enforcement of the precautions operating in Queensland and other States. The shipping authorities have issued regulations with a view to guarding against a possible eprnad of the plague from Sydney. The passengers and crew 3 on all outward bound oversea vessels must bo medically inspected. The loading of a cargo for overseas and interstate ports is also to be officially supervised.
