INADEQUATE SALARIES. SIR A WEIGALL RESIGNS. A and N.Z. ADELAIDE, Dec. 4. Sir Archibald Weigall (State Governor! has resigned the Governorship. It u stated that his decision is due to high British taxation, which practically left him to conduct Government House from his own private means. Sir William Allardyce (Governor of Tasmania) has decided to make a trip to England, and the announcement is made that he will not return to Tasmania. The reason for the step is the inadequacy of the official salary to meet the expenses of Government House, necessitating drawing considerably on his private means. The Queensland Treasurer announced his intention to introduce a Bill to abolish he position of State Governor. He added that the people could safely expect the Governorship to be abolished very shortly.
