FINE THAMES EFFORT. [BY TELEGRAPHOWN CORRESPONDENT.] THAMES, Saturday. The Thames public school queen carnival, inaugurated for the purpose of raising fund? to establish a new and more commodious playground for the central si-ioo'. was brought to a close last evening with most, satisfactory results, due to the energetic efforts made by the various committees, although the final effort, arranged for yesterday, proved somewhat of a failure owing to rain, the procession through the (own with decorated and symbolical cars have to lie abandoned before it reached the park. The results are : Foundries Queen. 1, £Vll ; Fire Brigade. 2, £300 ; Fishermen. 3. £241; Oid Thames Boys, 4, £136. Grand total, £1068. This sum far ev eeds the amount expected, and will he ample to carry out the work.
