LOCAL BODIES' OFFICERS.
PROPOSAL TO FORM GUILD. A meeting of local bodies' officers was called for the Chamber of Commerce building last 'evening to hear Mr. F. A. Lloyd, general secretary of the New Zealand Local Bodies' Officers' Guild, explain the aims of that body. Mr. W. McMillan was voted to the chair. Mr. Lloyd stated that already 20 branches of the guild had been formed, and in au""esting the formation of an Auckland branch, he emphasised that the guild was in no sense a union, but a body whose aim was to promote efficiency, and tor that efficiency to obtain adequate reward. 4s i nly 15 officers were present, notice of the meeting having been too short it was dec ; ded to hold a meeting at a later date, those present at the same time expressing approval of the formation of a branch of the guild.
