Old Boys Entertain Team. The members oi the Auckland Grammar School football team were entertained at an informal dinner at the Dominion Hotel, by the old boys o{ the school, who are now resident in Christchurch. The Rev. R. M. Ryburn. who holds the distinction of being the oldest old boy of fho school in Christchurch, presided, and between twenty and thirty other old boys were present, in addition to the members of the team- Mr. Ryburn welcomed the team to Christchurch. and expressed the good feeling which existed between the old boys of the school and the present scholars. Mr. G. Coldhfctn, manager of the team, replied on behalf of the lads. Bri»f speeches were also made by Mess*-*. R. D. Worker. E. G. Perriday, Paor ; . and 8. Badeley. and a suggestion was made thst an Old Boys' A«soc ation_ be formed in Chri«tchurch. The idea was taken up enthusiastically.

AUCKLAND V. TARANAKI.

The interprovincial Rugby football match between Auckland and Taranaki will be Dlayed at Eden Park on Saturday. Ihe Taranaki team is due to arrive here tomorrow morning, and will be met at the station by officials of the Auckland Rugby Union The match will commence at 3 p.m Tt has been an-ansed to play a " curtain-raiser," Auckland Referees v. Auckland Juniors, at 2 p.m.

AUCKLAND TOURING TEAM. The Auckland touring team will leave Auckland on Sunday evening, September 18. for > Wellington, and will play the Wellingt n representatives on Wednesday, beptember al. Ine team is to leave Wellington for New Plymouth on September 22. and will play Taranaki on Saturday, September 24. leaving on the return to Auckland by steamer the same evening. Tne team will consist of 20 players. Mr- C. A. Mathteson will be manager.

THE MANAOEMEN- COMMITTEE The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union met last evening, Mr. H Frost presiding. The Grammar School Old Boys' Club wrote in connection with the disposal of the King's Cup, won by tho New Zealand Service team in England, suggesting that the Auckland Union make representations to the New Zealand Rugby D/iion that the cup be held for competition among champion senior teams ot the various unions affiliated with the New Zealand Union- It was decided that the Auckland delegates to the New Zealand Union bring the matter before the annual meeting of delegates. The following motion in connection with referees in tne Springbok matches was earned: —"That tho New Zealand Rugby Union's attention be drawn to the fact that of 16 matches played against tho Springboks, 12 were controlled by referees from the Wellington provincial district, and that no other referees in the North Inland were honoured by being selected for otto of theae matches, and. furthermore, this union rui phatically protests against the high-handed and apparently biased action of tho heien-es' HpiKHntmeut Board in its method of selection ' A letter was received advising that the New Zealand Rusby Union had appointed Messrs. G. H. Slade, H. Frost, and G.. Howe as representatives to tho conference in connection with the rules of the game to be hold at Wellington on Friday, September 16. It was resolved that, in the opinion of the committee, Messrs. S. F. Wilson, president of the Canterbury Rugby Union, and J. Mrjjeod, president of the Now Zealand Rug-by Union, should be added to the committee to meet Mr. Bennett, manager of the South African team, the captain and the vice-cap-tain, in conference in connection with tho amended rules. It was decided that the list of referees supplied to the New Zealand Referee' Association be submitted to the manager of the ! Taranaki team for selection for the Taranakij Auckland match. Arrangements relating to the forthcoming match between representatives of the Auckland and South uckland .Leagues were discussed. The chairman stated that special trains would be running between Hamilton and. Auckland on the day of the match, Saturday, September 17, which would serve to transport the South Auckland players to and from Auckland. A letter from the district traffic manager confirmed the arrangement made by the chairman- The secretary ol the South Auckland League. Mr. F- T. Wilson, wrote stating that the arrangements made would suit the country players admirably. In regard to the forthcoming excursion to Thames, arranged by the Ponsonby Club, a letter was* received by the club secretary stating that the following games had been arranged to be Played at Thames on September 24:—Ponsonby seniors v. Marist Old Boys. Ponsonby second v. Kingsland third, Ponsonby third v. Efleralie third, Paroell fourth v. Kingsland fourth. A letter was received from the council of the New Zealand League, stating that ih« council would defray the expenses of the two referees who would accompany the Ponsonby team to Thames. It was decided that the final of the Roope Rooster competition between City and Maritime Clubs be played on October L A proposal that the use of Carlaw Park should be granted on, Wednesday for a jockeys' maton, the takings to be donated to two injured jockeys in the hospital, was considered. It was decided to grant the use of the ground, the League to control the game and donate the receipts as suggested. Consideration of the application of the Auckland Football Association for the use of Carlaw Park to play a match for the Brown Shield against South Auckland Association representatives was deferred' for a week.
