The Wellington team, which arrived on Tuesday, has performed exceptionally well in repreeentativis games thi3 season. Just before leaving on its Northern tour the team df®tea ted the Canterbury repreeentatives at Wellington by 27 points to 11. Since leaving Wellington the team has met and. defeated Wanganui by 37 points to 11. and Tarahaki hy 17 points to 0. It will thus be seen that the visitors are a strong combination, well- up to "'the standard of Wellington representative players. The final selection of the Wellington team hae. not.-yet been made. Two members of-the tsam; Jackson and Standoru sustained injuries on the tour, and! may not be available, and M.arkham, a capable five-eigbths, may arrive to-day, to take pert in the match. They were to have arrived a week before the match for practice, and tie fact that; they are missing will mean dangerous delay in the matter of practice. The information now to hand, indicates that New Zealand's complete team will be it Christchurcb to-morrow.

There was a largo attendance. Special - interest centred in tho gam©. &e both teams— Christchurch and Olago High Schooia— were Moascar Cup competitors, and the match was to decide which school should represent the Bouth Island in the final for the cup, to be played here next Wednesday. Christchurch won ccnfortably by 19 points to 0, though Ot&eo made the game a hard one all However, the £orm shown by the Ohrifitchurch boys wae not such as to make their supporters jubilant, and they.will have to improve if they hope to win the final against the North Island representatives. Timaru High School beat Southland High. School by 8 points to 6. '< »

CHAMPIONSHIP SHIELD.

The Now Zealand Rugby League Council met last evening, "dr. !>. W. McLean presiding. A reply to a letter sent to the wueensl&zul .Leagu© was received, approving of the suggestion for a conference between New South Wales, Queensland, and New Zealand,, to be held at Auckland, but Bug-' getting it should be held next season. A query from the Ponsonby Club led to a discussion oonceming the trophy which is to replace the Thicker Shield. It was decided to call the new trophy the New ZeaRugby League Championship Club Shield. The new rules! which had been suggested for the Thicker Shield competition were adopted for the new trophy. It vaa decided that challenging clubs must forward their challenges within 14 days after the conclusion of theia respective club championships, tho New Zealand League Council to allocate the dates uf the matches:- ': So far as this year's challenge matches Were concerned, .it was agreed that thej should be played m order of receipt. j '
