MILITARY HOSPITALS.
NO REDUCTION OF STAFFS.
As the control of several of the military hospitals in the Dominion has recently been transferred to the Public Health Department, the question has arisen as to whether the staffs at these institutions are to be discharged or retained. This question was the subject of communications addressed to the DirectorCnbneral of Medical Services and the Director-General of Hospitals (Dr Wylie) by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association. The association has now been advised that no change is to take place in the personnel of the hospitals affected for three months. At the expiration of that period suitable men will be retained, probably on a reduced scale of wages since civilian hospitals are maintained at less expense than military hospitals. The men not required will- be found suitable employment elsewhero.
