From Oxford, -where he had been aS* tending the Empire Universities' Confer. ence and where he had conferred upon him -with the accustomed dignity and ceremonial the honorary degree, of D.C.L., Sir Robert Stout spent a day or two at Cambridge, accompanied bv Ladv Stout. They were the guests of Dr. Giles, of Emmanuel College. Then Sir Boberfc went through to Edinburgh, while Ladv Stout returned to London. In the Scottish capital Sir Bobert staved with Sir Isaac Bailey, pi-ofessor of botany at tha university, and he attended various dinners and luncheons, meeting manv people of interest.
