WANTS OF TE PUKE.

[nr CORRESPONDENT.] TE PUKE, Tuesday. Mir. F. F. Hockly, M.P., visited Te Puke today in the interests of Sir William Herries, and received deputations. The question of the formation of a hydroelectric power board was discussed, and the matter of the Te Puke district being included in the proposed Tauranga area was considered. If the residents of Te Puke objected to inclusion in Tauranga Mr. Hockly pointed out that a counter petition would be necessary. In answer to a suggestion that the Government should be asked to authorise railway connection between the East Coast railway and Rotorua, Mr. Hockly replied that this line would become necessary immediately the proposed lino to Taupo was openedBoth lines should in his opinion be carried on simultaneously, Tauranga Harbour being the natural outlet for the 35,000 acres of forest in the vicinity of Waiotapu. Word has been received that Mr. Biiks, chief electrical engineer, expects to be in Rotorua on Saturday, and wil] receive a committee appointed to form a hydroelectric power board for Whakatane, Opotiki, and part of tho Tauranga County.
