VAUXHALL SCHOOL.
The Vauxball School Committee, and. especially the ladies' committee, are carrying on an active campaign for fnnds foT the improvement of the new school grounds and the provision of requirements for the mental and physical entertainment of the children. Fortnightly dances are held at the Y.M.C.A. Hall at Takapuna Fort. Last Saturday a children's hall was a great success. The fancv dress costumes of the children were artistic and original, although full justices could not be devoted to them owing to the crowded state of the comparatively small hall. Prizes for the best costumes were won as follows: Girls, Moureen Lyon (grav moth), and Nonie Loper (bubbles); boys,' Roy Lockwood (sandwich man), and Lindsay Hay (Maori).. The parents are arranging a queen carnival. A farce sum of money has already been raised, enabling the work of laying out the grounds to be pushed on.
