ArvRANGING A BKCEPTION. With the object of discussing the most befitting wanner in which a public reception might bo tendered .to Jascba HoifoU, tho famed violinist, on his arrival in Auckland, a meeting of representatives of musical and kindred societies Was .held yesterday at the English and Foreign Piano Agency. Mr. 0. Hudson, chairman of tho Auckland Choral Society, presided. . Mr. Scott Colvillo said the violinist hud sailed from Australia by tho Ulima.roa. Civic receptions had been accorded Heifct?. by the Lord Mayors of Australian cities, and ho suggested that tho Mayor of Auckland should bo approached with a similar object in view. A committco was appointed to WWt upon tho Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gvmsor, this morning, in order to obtain his support in tho matter. It was agreed that, \n view of tho uncertainty as to the exact time of the vessel's berthing, it should be recommended that the reception take place at eleven o'clock on Monday mcniliiß.
