THE WORK OF RATANA.
FURTHER CURES REPORTED. (BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH. Monday.
Several cures were reported to-day as the result of Ratana's visit to Rapaki Pa. Mr Tikau., who has been crippled with rheumatism for many years, and quit© unable to visit Lyttelton, was reported to be so far recovered as to undertake a trip to Temuka with Ratana. An old man who had been unable to go without crutches for many years stepped out of the coach when it arrived from Lyttelton and walked along the wharf. At Ratana's advice he resumed his crutches for a little while but only in order that his leg might- not give way under the unaccustomed strain of walking. An old Maori woman who had been blind for twenty-five years was brought in and Ratana told her her sight would be restored in three davs if she had faith in God. On Sunday the woman stated she was able to d"istinaruish the light, which she had not been able to do for many years. Her case is bein* watched with deep interest. " Many minor cures are said to have been effected by Ratana's ministry, 3n d the Maoris hold him in the'greatest respect.
