HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER

AUCKLAND ISTHMUS BOARD. REVIVAL OF SCHEME LIKELY LOCAL, BODIES* NEGOTIATIONS. There is now a prospect of a revival of the scheme for a single hvdro-electric power board for the Auckland isthmus The Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson, stated yesterday that the City Council had not been idle in this matter. Very important negotiations had been going on between it and the various local bodies comprising the Eden-Manukau Powear Committee, ot which the Mayor of Onohunga, Mr. J. Park, was chairman. During the last two days an agreement had been completed and signed by Mr. Park and himself, which was designed to create a single power board for the entire metropolitan area and the adjacent local body districts. This agreement would be placed before the Euen-Manukau Committee and the City Council next week. Mr. Gunson said there was little doubt as to the attitude of the council, or what its decision would be, as the agreement had been carefully prepared after the conferences held several months agq between the council and the local bodies' representatives, when the council itself had clearly laid down the lines which should be followed. The outstanding points of difference had been overcome in a manner that would, it was hoped, be satisfactory to all parties.
