NAPIER BEATS PALMERSTON. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER. Thursday. The first Mfrascar Cnp match of the season was played to-day between the Palmerston North and Napier High Schools. The game is ordinarily an annual trial of strength between these schools, hut had been accented also as a cup challenge match. The weather was fine and the ground in good order. A light wind in the first spell favoured Palmerston North, but it died down half-way through the second half. The game was open and remarkably fast, both sides playing excellent football. In the first spell Palmerston North scored It points and Napier_ 3. The second spell was very fast. The Napier backs, who handled the bail well, nun straight and passed with precision and judgment. They put on 14 points, while Palmerston failed to add to their total, the game ending: Napier. 17; Palmerston North, 13.
