FRANKTON SALEYARDS.

OWN CORRESPONDENT-.] HAMILTON, Thursday The new saJeyards at Frankton which have recently been erected by the Central Saleyards Company were officially opened by the Hon. D. H. Guthrie, Minister for Lands, to-day. There was a large number of visitorsj including Messrs. R. F. Bollard. F. Hockiy, and J. A. Young, M.P.'s, and representatives of all the surrounding local bodies. = Mr. E. Goodwin, chairman of the company, briefly extended a hearty welcome to the Minister. He asked Mr. Guthrie to assist them in the matter of providing a railway siding. Mr. Goodwin presented the Minister with a handstome silver stock whip, in the use of which he said, in view of the Minister's experience, would probably be an adept. In reply the Minister expressed his pleasure at being present and said that every time he visited the district he marvelled at the improvments effected. It was not hard to see that there was & great future for the Waikato. Mr. Guthrie was subsequently entertained at luncheon.
